Barack Obama Does NOT Share My Views!

I know I said that I wasn't going to use this blog for political purposes but this video needs to be seen by every Bible-believing, non-conforming, no-compromising Christian in America! If you agree I implore you to pass it on to everyone you can as quickly as possible.

What a Gentleman

Heard already in our home today...

(Princess crying)
Princess: "[Handsome] pushed me out of his room"
Mom: "Son, did you do that?"
Handsome: "Mom, she wouldn't move so I escorted her out of my room."

Ok, Ok... I'm Convinced

Oh my goodness, I guess my comments section is working just fine and there really are readers out there! Thank you all so much for helping me, not to mention making me feel better!

I have to admit, I also have all the blogs I keep up with on my Google Reader just as many have told me they do. And while I do leave an occasional comment I usually don't take the time to do it very often because as any mom knows, there's simply too many other, more important things to do with our time.

So yes, I read but rarely comment and it's perfectly fine with me if you do the same. I totally understand. At least now I know that comments can be left.

Thank you again to everyone who took the time to help me out with this.

Would You Please Help Me?

I don't normally get very many comments anyway, but I've been surprised lately that I haven't gotten any lately, and to be totally honest with you, I was really starting to wonder if I should just make this blog private so I can preserve those things that I don't want to forget but obviously no one else cares about. I mean, I know a lot of what I blog about is just our personal family stuff, and I have been telling myself that I need to get back into blogging about training our children and homeschooling and such, but now I wonder if that's even worth my time. I know, what a baby, but after so long with no comments whatsoever it just makes one begin to wonder why they even bother.

But then earlier today I got an email from someone saying that when they tried to leave a comment they got a message saying that my profile was not available. Huh? I've checked everything and it all appears to be in order. So why isn't my profile 'available'? Has anyone else had problems leaving a comment? Or is it really that I'm just not getting any comments?

If you have just a second, could you please try to leave a comment somewhere on my blog, just so I can make sure everything is working like it should? And if you do have trouble, would you care to shoot me a quick email letting me know of the problem? Pretty please? And does anyone know how to correct this 'profile not available' issue?

Thanks everybody. We'll see what happens.

Make Them Feel Special

This is awful, but I can't remember whose blog I got this idea from. If I come across it or someone knows please let me know so I can give her full credit for it.

Anyway, when my kids woke up to find this waiting for them one morning this week they just loved it! It made them feel special and it stopped the constant, "What are we having for _______" all day long, which made mommy very happy!

Isn't it a nice (and simple) little touch? It's simply a dry-erase marker on a regular kitchen plate. Quick, easy, and makes your family feel special. What more could you ask for?

A Lesson Well Learned

Shopping at Kroger using coupons, most of which were doubled...$28.55

Shopping at K-Mart during their double coupon days...$14.44

Shopping at Wal-Mart using a few coupons which are never doubled... $106.42

Realizing that you aren't really saving as much money as you thought by shopping at Wal-Mart... priceless!

(Not to mention noticing how desperately I need to make out a menu before I go! I'm embarrassed to see how much junk I bought and how few meals I can actually put together for the amount of money I spent. It's most definitely a learning process but this week's trip taught me a whooooole lot!)

(Kroger: saved $35.31 between coupons and Kroger card, a total savings of 55%. K-Mart: saved $17.14 going on double coupon day, a total savings of 54%. Wal-Mart: saved $10.70 using coupons, a total savings of around 9%.)

What Happens When You Teach Them What Cerain Words Mean?

They try to 'siphon' Hawaiian Punch from the jug to their cup!

A Really Cool Place for Kids

On our way back home from my brother's we stopped at a place in Indiana called Kids Commons. They had an Explore-a-House thing where the kids could learn how a house works and what lies behind the walls and this was the kid's favorite part...

It was actually a slide but made a 'flushing' sound as you went down. How do you think this will look on our Christmas cards this year? LOL!

How cool is this?!

And for all my Five in a Row sisters, this one's just for you. Can you see what Princess is wearing?

Here, let's get a closer view, shall we?

That's right. Those are a pair of Red Clogs she's got on her feet!

And I just loved this... they left the field of corn and built the Home Depot store behind it! We have never seen so much corn in all our life as when we went through Indiana. God bless all those corn growers! We LOVE you!

I Must Say...

...if you are ever passing through Effingham, Illinois and need a place to rest your weary head then you should stay at the Country Inn & Suites. We took a weekend trip last month for my brother's baby shower. (Well, it wasn't technically his baby shower, it was his baby's baby shower, but, well you get the point).

Anyway, we were SO impressed with the town itself along with how nice the hotel was. Very clean, very nice people... oh my goodness, this is beginning to sound like a commercial!

Tell you what, how about some pictures of our trip instead?

This is the lobby of the hotel. Isn't it beautiful? So warm and homey. You could even borrow books to read while you were there and if you weren't finished by the time you checked out you could take the book with you and drop it off at any other Country Inn & Suites! How cool is that? Too bad I discovered that on the last morning we were there.

This is where a huge breakfast was served every morning... biscuits, gravy, eggs, toast, sausage, bacon, pancakes, waffles, omlets, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, bagels, OJ, milk, coffee... you name it, it was served. And it was free! Oh, and very yummy. This saved us a ton of money feeding the kids.

Here's a couple of my little monkeys enjoying the simpler pleasures in life!

Look at this giant cross! Isn't it beautiful? What a beautiful sight to behold every day.

Reece Cup placed a pin on the map showing we had been there. (No, we're not from where his hand is, he's just feeling all the pins in that one spot since there are so many.)

My Best Birthday Gift Ever

"Mom, your hands are softer than a cloud and your voice is like a harp and your as beautiful as an angel."

Said to me tonight by my precious 9 year old son, in a very soft, sleepy voice, as I rubbed his face and told him how much I love him as he was drifting off to sleep. What better birthday present could there possibly be?

Our Family Olympics... A Little Late

Well, I'm really late in posting this but better late than never, aye?

Back in August, to go along with our Olympics study, we held our own Olympics. We had...

The Doggy Paddle

Diving (a.k.a. Whoever can jump into the cold pool water the fastest without hesitating!)

Running

And here are the winners with all their medals!

And here's little Miss Princess showing off what she wants for Christmas!

Thursday, Oct 9: You Are There - Columbus Discovers America (mp3 audio)

With Columbus Day this coming Monday, here is the first of two

Christopher Columbus. In this tale, we follow reporters as they

interviews. Great living history!

Friday, Oct 10: Admiral of the Ocean Sea (mp3 audio)

This is a story of vision and hope, and what can be accomplished
when we pursue a dream. It begins with Christopher Columbus and
his discovery of America, but it is really much more. It is
more about the spirit in which Christopher Columbus pursued life,
his attitudes, goals and dreams.
What can we learn from him and those who came before and after him?
Listen to this great audio presentation and find out!

You can download all of these on their respective days at Homeschool Freebie of the Day! Make a note of the ones you want, and be sure to stop by that day and get your copy!

Today's My Day!

Now... Will You Vote Yay or Nay in November?

Thank goodness for those a bit wiser in certain things than I who can actually tell me things I otherwise would not have known.

For example, did you know that the government... you know, "OF the people, BY the people, FOR the people", their bailout plan that has now passed (oh, thank the good lawd that our country has now been bailed out by our trusted leaders) includes money for the following...

Auto racing tracks: $128 million
Small-to medium-sized fil producers: $10 million
Manufacturers of wooden arrows: $6 million
Corporations in American Samoa: $33 million
Rum producers in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands: $192 million
Fisherman and others who suffered from the Exxon Valdez oil spill in 1989: $223 million
Wool “research”: Cost unknown

I'm sorry. I may not be the smartest one on the block when it comes to all this financial/government/banking stuff but I am in no way stupid. It doesn't take a genious to figure out that if our country is in such dire financial shape that those wooden arrow manufacturers are just going to have to find another way to fund their... what the heck would you call it? Can anyone tell me WHY we even HAVE wooden arrow manufacturers in the first place? And WHY in the world do they need $6 million? And rum producers? $192 MILLION?!! Oh yeah, THAT'S what I sent my representatives to Washington for. UGH!

How did your House member vote? How about your Senators?

Now, my question to you is, how will you be voting in November? If they voted yes, will you vote no? Please take a second and vote on the poll over on the right sidebar.

(To read the rest of what Mary hunt has to say about this, go here. And not that this matters anymore, but here was Dave Ramsey's Common Sense Plan to this big mess. I say Ramsey for President!)

Introducing...

Madilyn1

Madilyn (Madi) Renae. She was born on Wednesday, October 1st at 2:15 a.m. and weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 inches long. Isn't she gorgeous?

Baby Madi is my very first ever blood-neice (that sounds really gross). I've been an aunt for a long time, several times over as a matter of fact, to my step-neices and nephews and to Sweetie's siblings kids and it's such a fun and awesome feeling. But NOTHING compares to when one of those little ones actually shares your genes, your heritage. Words just can't describe how much I love this precious little angel whom I can't even get my hands on yet! I am just dying to kiss those little cheeks right off!
